Welcome to kissing bridge cottage

Built in the 1940s by my grandparents and lovingly updated over the years by my husband and I, Kissing Bridge Cottage is a vintage, rustic-but-cozy riverside retreat on beautiful Darling’s Island.

This self-contained cottage is thoughtfully equipped for short or medium stays and is the first of three seasonal rental spaces on our private Hammond River property. Just a stroll down the driveway, you’ll find the century-old covered bridge — now restored and open for foot and bicycle traffic.

Inside, the cottage is bright, tidy, and laid out for comfort, function, and peaceful river views. There are two bedrooms: one with a queen bed, dresser, closet, and smart TV, and a second with a double/full bed, dresser, and smart TV. The small but bright bathroom includes a shower stall, linens, and toiletries.

The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to cook and dine, including a toaster, microwave, blender, slow cooker, drip 12 cup coffee maker, spices, oil, coffee, tea, and basic fridge condiments. The dining area seats four, with two extra stools for guests. The living room offers comfy reclining seating, books, games, extra blankets, and all the cozy touches for curling up after a day outside. A mudroom provides extra storage for travel items, jackets, shoes, beach gear, deck cushions, fire pit items, and pup supplies. Laundry, extra paper products, and cleaning supplies are also available.

Outside, enjoy your private 10’ x 18’ deck, new in 2025, with outdoor dining for four, an offset umbrella, sectional seating, BBQ, and soft evening lighting. The front yard overlooks the covered bridge and includes your own bonfire pit with chairs — bring firewood for cozy nights under the stars. A propane fire pit is also available for burn-ban days or whenever preferred.

Fishing, swimming, floating, kayaking, canoeing, and paddleboarding are all encouraged here. Guests have access to kayaks, paddle boards, a canoe, paddles, life jackets, and dry bags. Or bring your favourite floaties and spend the day tied to shore, drifting and relaxing.

Please note: there is also a small cabin about 100 feet from the cottage, which may host up to two guests. Beginning July 2026, a second cabin will also welcome up to two guests. Cottage and cabin guests share the driveway, small private beach area, fishing point, kayaks, paddles, safety gear, and lawn games.

Kissing Bridge Cottage is a classic Canadian cottage re-created for a fun, relaxing getaway — whether you’re here to unwind by the river or use it as a home base for exploring more of New Brunswick. Darling’s Island has a peaceful, welcoming feel that makes it easy to settle in and feel at home.
